According to current research, the stone circles in the cave of Bruniquel are the oldest man-made construction in the world. It was built around 176,500 years ago by Neanderthals about 350 meters inside the stalactite cave from broken stalagmites. Bruniquel is located east of Montauban in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in southwestern France.
