Teshik-Tash is a cave grotto in the Baysuntau Mountains (Surkhandarya Region, Uzbekistan). In this cave in 1938-1939, the Soviet archaeologist Alexei Pavlovich Okladnikov made the discovery of a burial from the Mousterian culture of a Neanderthal girl. Previously, it was assumed that this skeleton belonged to a boy.
