Saccopastore is the 4H urban zone of the Rome III Municipality of Rome Capital. It extends over the Q. XVI Monte Sacro district.

The name derives from previous medieval forms and therefore the simplistic reading according to which it is due to the bend of the Aniene river that surrounds and delimits the area itself, already frequented by shepherds, must be excluded.

In this area was found, in 1929, a fossil human skull, called "Man of Saccopastore I", and in 1935 another human skull, called "Man of Saccopastore II", with other remains of animals including the Palaeoloxodon antiquus (elephant with straight tusks).
