The Moulin Quignon is an archaeological site located in the Espérance district of Abbeville, in the Somme department. This Lower Paleolithic prehistoric site is 400 meters from Carrière Carpentier.
The site of the Moulin Quignon has highlighted the oldest traces of prehistoric man found in northwestern Europe5. They are −650,000 years old, maybe −700,000 years old6. Bones and fossils of deer, wild boar, bear, rhinoceros, hippopotamuses, molluscs from the interglacial period have been unearthed, but no human fossils.
