The cave of Marcenac is a prehistoric decorated cave located in the department of Lot, located on the territory of the commune of Cabrerets. It is located on the right bank of the Sagne, 1.5 km from Cabrerets, between the cave of Pech Merle and the hotel restaurant l'Auberge de la Sagne, 200 m below (plots 419, 420 and 421 of the F2 sheet of the cadastre).
In their first research, in May 1920, they saw on the western wall several engravings of deer and caprids, and on the western wall very curious gratings with traces of indeterminate paintings.
At 120 m from the entrance, in a diverticulum forming an oval room, Armand Viré and Canon Albe found two samples of line paintings, in October 1920, representing a large bison 1.74 m long, and an equine 0.88 m long.
These paintings and engravings have been compared to the style of the paintings of the Lascaux cave. It probably dates from the Magdalenian II, but for Jacques Jaubert, its style has taken it back to the Gravettian.
