The Esquilléu cave is located 350 meters above sea level, located within the Hermida gorge, a lime-cal complex 40 kilometers from the coast.

The remains found by Dr. Javier Baena and his team are distributed over 35 levels dated between 51000 and 34000 Before the Present in some areas, which allows us to place it between the Middle and Upper Paleolithic, thus being completely within the spectrum covered by Musteriense technology.
